The Joe Frex Level Tamper was manufactured in such a way that it always levels the coffee grounds in the portafilter to the desired depth.

Adjusting the depth is very easy; after loosening the headrest, you can choose from discs of different thicknesses.

Tampering with Leveler

With its fan-shaped base structure, the leveler levels the ground coffee to achieve a uniform density and level (height). This prevents the brewing water from taking an unplanned path and not penetrating the entire ground coffee evenly.

An espresso only tastes harmonious and balanced when the brewing water penetrates the coffee puck evenly and each coffee grain releases the same amount of aromatic substances into the brewing water.

This is also a prerequisite for a perfect crema.
